The client
Doğuş Construction and Trade Inc. is a world leader in the construction sector, with over 250 mega-infrastructure and superstructure projects behind it and a market value of USD 28.2 billion. The company works within joint ventures and consortiums across Turkey, the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe and the Gulf. Doğuş has appeared in ENR’s annual list of the world’s top 250 construction companies since 2003.
The problem
Doğuş Construction had a 16km metro construction site for the Üsküdar-Ümraniye-Çekmeköy Metro Project in Istanbul. They often needed complex legal and technical translations from Turkish to English or English to Turkish. These document translations included proxies, contracts, regulations, audit reports, risk-assessment reports, construction-site safety procedures, tender specifications, quality manuals, technical specifications, project reports, technical documents and architectural and system-engineering documents.
The solution
Doğuş Construction turned to Lexiword. As well as day-to-day translations, Lexiword completed Turkish to English translation of no fewer than eight 180,000-word technical specifications. To deliver this, the company handled all project analysis and pricing, terminology of documents, selection of translation technologies and translators, and all workflow and proofreading processes. Using excellent organisational skills, Lexiword delivered all this within one month.
